When we got to the Log Slide, (also known as Log Chute, Devil's Slide, and a couple other names), we found this nice warning.  In case you can't read it, it says:
Going down only takes a few seconds - coming back up may take an hour or more...
The Log slide descends 500 feet (300 vertical)....
If you are not in good physical condition do not go down the log slide...
Sand and rocks may roll down on you from people climbing above....
There are drop offs near the bottom that you can't see from above....
Rescue is difficult and may be delayed due to distance from the local ambulance service or Lake Superior weather conditions....
The NPS has conducted several visitor rescues here in recent years - don't become a statistic...

Wow, after a warning like that, the Scouts were REALLY excited to go try it. :-)
