Shortly after this picture was taken, after Malcolm got a little closer to the ground, Ted demonstrated how the belayer could halt a person just by pulling on the rope.  Malcolm couldn't move up or down, and had to beg forgiveness for anything bad he had ever done to Ted to be allowed to continue going down.
