William made a clean exit and the two of the drifted in the water for awhile.  Here they learned a very valuable lesson about how objects in the water drift and different speeds than objects on top of the water.  Especially in a headwind.  They realized that if Ted hadn't stayed with the canoe it would have been VERY difficult to swim back to it.
